Luminarias

by Evelina Fernandez

Poster of Luminarias

“Luminarias” uses a comedic framework to address serious themes unique to the Latin@/Latin American experience. The play is highly regarded as a vital theatric piece that highlights the role of the Latina woman in modern Los Angeles. Addressing feminism, machismo, homosexuality, and other traditionally viewed taboos of Latin American culture, the play strives to create a more intimate and personal dynamic between the show and its’ audience as four women speak about their lives in a restaurant called Luminarias.
