The fairy Iolanthe has been living in exile for 25 years, ever since she was banished by the Queen of the Fairies for having dared to marry a mortal. Now, the Queen welcomes Iolanthe back into the fold, only to learn that the delinquent fairy has a 25-year-old half-mortal son who's getting himself into trouble with the members of the English House of Lords. A satire about the conflicting laws of love and politics, Iolanthe is one of Gilbert & Sullivan's best-loved collaborations.
